On 28 September, our colleague Eva González, Head of Innovation at BIOLAN, took part in the “Ekosteguna” – Circular Economy Thursday held at La Perrera (Bilbao), under the slogan “Circular Products made in Bizkaia”.

Within the framework of “ASTEKLIMA”, the aim of the conference is to share how Basque organisations are incorporating the principles of circular economy in their products and services. The Basque Country has been a pioneer in the application of environmental criteria from the initial stages of product design and development, consolidating itself as a benchmark in southern Europe, especially in the industrial field.

“Ekosteguna” has been made possible thanks to the participation of selected companies that form part of Zirkularrak-Circulares, an exhibition of more than 150 circular products manufactured in the Basque Country. Organised by IHOBE, the exhibition offers an overview of the wide variety of products whose manufacture has applied eco-design methodologies with a life cycle approach and which have therefore substantially reduced their environmental impact. The main purpose of the conference was none other than to provide an overview of the potential of the circular economy and eco-design by Basque companies from different sectors, including BIOLAN.

BIOLAN has had the opportunity to present the BIO 7000, a portable measuring device that quantifies different parameters of interest to the food and health industry. It is an eco-designed device, with reduced weight and volume, whose consumption of test strips is also subject to principles of material optimisation and cost efficiency. At BIOLAN we have transformed our products and our business in order to remain competitive, guaranteeing the current and future development of our environment, hand in hand with sustainable growth and the circular economy.
