INDEUS, an initiative promoted by SPRI, aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Basque companies by promoting the use of Basque in the industrial field within the Basque Autonomous Community.

The first annual meeting of the companies that form part of this initiative was held on 12 March, where the new members of the group, including BIOLAN, were presented.

The function of INDEUS is to identify the difficulties, obstacles and needs of companies when it comes to managing the company in Basque. Among the areas to be addressed, the Digital Environment stands out, where an assessment of the Basque language is carried out in support programmes for companies, training actions, own dictionaries, cybersecurity, management systems and digital space. It also identifies the external and internal landscape of the language in companies, and helps companies that make little use of Basque to identify their difficulties and inform them of the aid available to them.

Led by Spri, the Basque Energy Agency, the Vice-Ministry of Linguistic Policy and the Provincial Councils of Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa are the leaders of this Group. They are responsible for the general coordination of the initiative and its strategic lines, as well as organising the different meetings throughout the year.

On 12 March, BIOLAN, together with the other companies, technology centres and associations that form part of the platform, met to take stock of the previous year, as well as to define the next objectives. They also learned about the projects that promote digital transformation and foster the presence of Basque and Basque culture on the Internet, paying special attention to cybersecurity. Euskaraldia also played a leading role, the movement to activate the use of Basque that will take place next May.

For BIOLAN, the use of Basque in the workplace is more than just a question of cultural identity; it is a fundamental strategy to enhance internal communication and strengthen competitiveness as a company. Through its commitment to the Basque language and culture, BIOLAN contributes to creating a more inclusive working environment that reflects the values and identity that define the company.
