is caring for who we are
Fishing sector

The fisheries industry is required to maintain high product quality and ensure safety for consumption. In assessing fish quality and freshness, histamine, YAKE, TMA and TVBN are considered the best indicators, but other parameters such as salt content are also of great interest to the industry.
In 2013, BIOFISH HIS was launched on the market, a biosensor for measuring histamine in fish and fish-derived products.
Since 2016, BIOFISH 3000 HIS has held an AOAC Performance Test Method (PTM) Certification

Following the success of this launch, BIOFISH 3000 YAKE was brought to market to quantitatively determine burnt meat syndrome.
In 2024, in response to market demand, BIOFISH 7000 SAL was launched, a potentiometric sensor for quantifying sodium in fish and fish-derived products.
At the end of 2025, consolidating its technology portfolio, BIOFISH 7000 TMA was launched, a device that quantifies trimethylamine.
In 2026, BIOFISH 7000 TVBN was launched, to quantify total volatile basic nitrogen.

Crustacean sector

The production and processing of crustaceans, especially shrimp, use sulphites, a substance considered an allergen, making their control mandatory.
Seeing the sector’s need and building on an already well-established technology, BIOFISH SUL was launched in 2014, a biosensor for quantifying sulphite.
In 2024, in response to market demand, BIOFISH SAL was launched, a potentiometric sensor for quantifying sodium in shrimp.

Since 2021, sulphite quantification using BIOFISH 3000 SUL has been recognized as an Official Method of Analysis (OMA) by AOAC International.

Dairy sector

The growing demand for lactose-free or low-lactose products, driven by the high prevalence of intolerance in many countries, makes it essential for the industry to guarantee appropriate lactose levels in products labelled as lactose-free.
In 2013, BIOMILK, a biosensor for analyzing lactose and glucose, was launched on the market.
Since 2020, BIOMILK 3000 LAC has been certified as an Official Method (OMA) by AOAC International, and in 2026, BIOMILK 7000 LAC also obtained AOAC Performance Test Method (PTM) certification. OMA Seal Certificate No. 2020.09

In 2024, BIOMILK SAL, a sensor for measuring sodium in dairy products, will be launched.

Meat sector

The meat industry uses nitrites and nitrates as essential additives, mainly as preservatives.
Beginning to address this new sector, in 2024 we launched BIOMET 7000 SAL on the market for measuring sodium in meat products.
In 2025, after identifying the importance of controlling nitrites and nitrates in meat products, BIOMEAT 7000 NITRITE and NITRATE was made available to the sector for the quantification of these preservatives.

Wine sector

In winemaking, controlling certain parameters is essential to ensure quality. Compounds such as gluconic acid, malic acid, fructose, glucose, sucrose, histamines and lactic acid must be precisely monitored throughout the process to ensure optimal grape condition and achieve the highest wine quality.
BIOLAN began its journey in this sector by launching BIOWINE, a device capable of measuring gluconic and malic acid. It currently offers two types of measuring devices, BIOWINE 3000 and BIOWINE 7000, to meet the needs of the sector at different stages of the winemaking process.

Other sectors

The BIOFOOD product line encompasses new biosensors targeting various food segments—such as sulfite in dried fruits, sugar, and potatoes.
The BIOFOOD product line includes some of these new biosensors, designed for a range of food segments.
